State of Massachusetts Sees Foreclosure Filings Rise But Finalized Foreclosures Decline

With all the bad news in the real estate market today, there’s a ray of hope shining in Massachusetts.

While the number of foreclosure petitions filed is rising, finalized mortgage foreclosures are declining across the state.

The Greater Boston Area and State of Massachusetts See Foreclosure Rate Drop

The statewide foreclosure rate in Massachusetts fell four percent in February of 2009 when compared to February of 2008.  This is a promising sign for the Boston area as well as the entire state of Massachusetts.  The huge amount of bank repossessions that has thrown the Boston real estate market into chaos over the last few years finally appears to be slowing down.

Foreclosure Scams Run Amuck in Massachusetts

As if the economy isn’t bad enough and homeowners don’t need to worry about keeping their job and a roof over their head. Now it’s being reported in the Boston Globe that scammers are preying on resident of Massachusetts that were facing possible foreclosure on their homes.
