The ongoing Blagojevich saga shifted to a reality show this month when Patti Blago joined NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” show. Her hubby was the original contestant, but the judge would not release him to go to Costa Rica, the location of the filming.
Until the show, she was only known as wife of a previous defrocked governor.
Okay, if you’re not gonna say, I am. She’s got some talent, man. Am I gonna pay for this one! I mean she has talent for a reality show.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve been following the whole political fiasco of hubby Rod, along with his god complex. Who can miss that? He throws it out there often enough. And, yes, I am aware of the FBI tapes with her infamous four-letter expletives.
She definitely lacked class on the recordings, but if you watched any of the show’s segments, you would see that she actually appears to be a decent human being. Even decent human beings can make some bad decisions … like marrying her husband, for one.
In addition, according to the hosts of the show, many have written in that she’s a sexy mom. Don’t shoot me, now, I’m just the messenger.
She was voted off last Tuesday and showed class in the departure. Having said all that, let’s look at the other side of this story.
I admit, she knows she was in the public eye. She may have played it cool to deflect any negative attention, and to make it look like her husband couldn’t be all bad, since his wife seemed like such a good person.
Typically, however, when people are under more pressure in situations like hers their really bad side comes out. That didn’t happen here.
She definitely stayed in the background, for the most part, kept away from confrontation, avoided controversial alliances and cried on queue when asked about her husband’s illegal political dealings.
Could it be that she was able to keep it all in perspective for the sake of her family? Maybe. I guess as the legal proceedings continue, more details may be disclosed about both the Blagos. If so, then we all will be more enlightened.
For now … I wouldn’t put it past NBC to find a slot for Patti on another reality show.
