Hagerstown Hotel and Convention Center (HHCC) was in the throes of foreclosure before a last-minute, tentative deal was worked out with the facility’s lender.
Scheduled for foreclosure sale on the morning of August 10, Bahman Inc., owner of the establishment, was able to come to a tentative agreement with the lender, BB&T in last minute negotiations on the previous Friday.
HHCC’s Director of Sales Roy Arnold says that there will be no sale for now. Even before the tentative agreement was reached, he was confident that a deal would be worked out. Arnold previously stated that he felt an agreement would provide a great opportunity for the establishment to continue operations and continue to provide the same level of service in which the town was accustomed.
Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Tom Riford stated that other local tourist attractions and hotels depended on the survival of the HHCC. The center offers full-service, which attracts significantly sized conventions that feed into other local area establishments.
Seated on 6.1 acres in a prime location off Interstate 70 at 1910 Dual Highway, the hotel provides 108 rooms for lodging, a restaurant and meeting facilities.
According to Riford, the conventions attract enough people to fill up several other area hotels. He said he is hoping that the establishment will survive the financial challenges it currently faces.
