Transforming old buildings into newly renovated property is not a new concept. It can be novel, however, depending on the type of property being refurbished, the rehabbing undertaken and the look and purpose of the finished product.
Michael Gabriel, attorney and proprietor of Borden Flats Lighthouse, has taken on a novel challenge, indeed. He intends to renovate the 1800’s lighthouse into a modern-day brewery … with a twist.
Along with restoring the historic landmark and incorporating a brewery, Gabriel will assimilate an old method used by naval ships. The process is called “desalination,” which is the removal of salt from sea water making the water potable. He anticipates producing 300 gallons daily using the process. The desalinated water will be used to make a variety of beers.
Gabriel says that he wants to preserve the historic character of the old structure, but enhance it with updated and modern entrails. He will finish the interior with modern materials to achieve more adequate space, but will decorate with period pieces to reflect the era in which the lighthouse was originally built.
His said that his relatives may eventually move into the property once it is renovated. If you want to live in the town where this brewery is, click Fall River, MA Homes for Sale to see what’s available.
