Franklin, Tennessee … Will You Answer the Call?!

Truly a historic town, Franklin, Tennessee is named after Benjamin Franklin.  Founded in 1799, it remained a relatively peaceful, small county seat for its first 180 years.  Williamson, the county in which Franklin resides, was one of the richest counties in the state, and Franklin was at the hub of the plantation economy.

In 1864, however, the American Civil War Battle of Franklin devastated the city’s economy.  It took 120 years to turn the county’s economy around to its former, pre-war prosperity.  Franklin has emerged from its small agricultural roots and grown into a thriving blended community of commercial and corporate citizens.

Business Week online named this city as one of the top 50 cities in the U.S. to start a small business.   The magazine cites Franklin’s collective qualities, like the area’s affordability, accessibility to a talented labor pool, the flourishing business community and the city’s overall exceptional quality of life.  The town also made Southern Living’s top 10 list of its Reader’s Choice Awards.  The city ranked 5th for “Best Small Town.”  It is currently the most prosperous city in Williamson County, which is ranked the 18th wealthiest county in the country by the U.S. Census Bureau.
