Sixteen condos went on sale in a three-story century-old building in downtown Boise about a month ago. After a few weeks on the market, none had sold but checking the MLS today, we can only find six left for sale.
The R. Grey Lofts are located at 419 South 8th Street and the available units range from 945 to 2,009 square feet and range in price from $299,900 to $872,100.
The R. Grey Lofts were developed by Gary Christensen and almost did not get completed as the project ran into financial trouble. Liens amassed, and Bank of the Cascades sued to foreclose on the property. The bank had planned to sell the property at auction this month but Christensen brought the outstanding debt up to date.
Another issue with the project came in the form of the LEED certification. The lofts were originally built to qualify for the gold level of LEED certification but because the general contractor changed during the construction process, developers did not achieve all the documentation necessary for LEED certification.
