10-Unit Condo Project in San Diego is Sold by Bank

A forward thinking green condo project that was launched back in August 2005 has finally been sold by East West Bank, the bank that foreclosed on the project in February. Private investors acquired the 10-unit apartment building that is located near Balboa Park at 2234 Brant St. for $1.3 million, or $130,000 per unit.

Craig Brod, the founder of the educational toy store chain Imaginarium, was the man behind Clear Skies Condominiums LLC, the company that was trying to get the green development off the ground. Unfortunately they started construction on the project at the peak of the market and could not survive the downward spiral that has taken place over the last three and a half years.

Located in Bankers Hill, the building, which is a little more than 13,000 square-feet, is made up of two one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units that range between 900 to 1,500 square feet. The majority of the units have views of the San Diego Bay and Downtown.

The project is approximately 10% from completion and needs about $700,000 worth of improvements before final sign off can be obtained. The new buyers plan to complete the project and manage the development as an apartment community.
