Well it just so happens that $50mm ($49 million to be exact) will buy you a nice 9 bedroom, 11 bath Georgetown estate with parking for 100 cars and a view of the Washington Monument at 1623 28th St NW.

So that got us thinking – what else is worth $50mm in today’s world?  Here are just a few things:

• The Clintons – reportedly worth ~$50mm
• One amateur pitcher – according to Peter Gammons of ESPN, Stephen Strasburg (who is represented by super agent Scott Boras) may fetch $50 million over 6 years if taken first in the upcoming MLB draft
• A recently proposed suicide barrier on the Golden Gate bridge
• Oh, and one or two public companies in the real estate space  including Tree.com (formerly LendingTree, TREE), and MarketLeader (formerly HouseValues, LEDR)
