The Initial Reaction

Welcome back!

We are still pulsing from the excitement of our initial launch of Roost and the flurry of resulting coverage. While we were certainly hopeful that all the late nights’ work would be well received – it has been really satisfying to hear the initial response from around the Web.

Thought we’d share some of the initial reaction with you…

The Launch

“Roost launched last week, and I love it.” Brian Bolero, 1000WattConsulting

“[A] new contender has arrived.” Doug Caverly, WebProNews

How It Works

“Roost.com is a free IDX system for brokers that they would only have to pay for when they are receiving benefits from it — this in the form of leads to potential home-buyers. The IDX systems available at a monthly cost in many markets are so poor that Roost may prove to be a potent weapon in a broker’s arsenal.” Greg Swann, Bloodhound Realty

Features

“First and foremost – it’s fast. Blazing fast. The search experience is, quite frankly, awesome… I think I may have just found a new favorite [home search engine].Joel Burslem, Future of Real Estate Marketing

“The site’s key feature is its Google-like search engine.” Prashant Gopal, BusinessWeek

“Since we regard ACCURATE search as one of the key ingredients of a successful user experience, I give Roost high marks here.” Joseph Ferrara, Sellsius Marketing

Competitive Advantage

“What makes Roost different is that, instead of trying to list all properties in the U.S. as Zillow or CyberHomes do, or take in feeds from individual real estate brokers as Trulia does, it is negotiating with Multiple Listing Services (MLSs) in each metro area to get a comprehensive set of houses on sale.” Erick Schonfeld, TechCrunch

Partnership Opportunity

“They want to… work with brokers. They provide an excellent self-branded search product that can be embedded/framed in an existing brokerage site.” Jay Thompson, Geek Estate Blog

“REALTOR® Jeff Duffey of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage [affirms] ‘I am happy for any search engine that will help educate the consumer so they can save time, and I can help find the house [buyers] want and get them into it.’” Kristiana Heap, Park Cities People

Industry Buzz

“Overall, I’d say that the Roost team has done a really good job with this first release! It’s a quality product that delivers as promised.” Dustin Luther, 4Realz.Net

Thank you all!

  • I will check out the site. Are you looking to court other real estate professionals like Zillow to be on your site?
To provide information to prospective buyers and sellers.
  • I'd love to get in on the ground floor of this exciting concept. I work the North Dallas market and have sent email inquiries. When will you make opportunities available to agents?
  • Good job! Buzz buzz.
  • Slick site Alex, congratulations on a successful launch!
  • Roost.com brings value to the consumer and the real estate industry...sounds like a combination for success. We hope you fly high Roost!

  • Thanks for all the great comments all. Couple quick responses:
    - Frank, we're not yet looking for other types of professionals. At this point focused squarely on brokers
    - Lydia, we're very excited to roll Roost out to agents and it will likely be in the next 6 months. Look for an announcement!
  • It is very slick website, It is moving up quick in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
  • What does it cost to be a member? We are a broker, we have a real nice IDX but we can always use more leads.

Also how does it work, we we both get the same lead.
